[mario abbagliati quartet]

The Mario Abbagliati Quartet is a contemporary jazz band with a repertoire made up of original compositions and also of some of the less common jazz standards within the local scene.
The quartet has played in the majority of venues that book jazz in Catalonia, such as La Cova del Drac, Casino de Granollers, Jamboree, Jazz Cava de Terrassa, etc.
Other performances that stand out are the Jazz Cicles in Sant Feliu de Codines, Berga and the Barcelona Pipa Club Jazz Festival al Ritz (2001/2003).
En el año 2004, el cuarteto obtuvo el 2º lugar en la categoría Mejor Grupo Español del III Concurso Internacional de Interprétes de Jazz de Granada.
The band is formed by Mario Abbagliati (guitar), Fredrik Carlquist (tenor and soprano saxes), Tom Warburton (double-bass), and Mariano Steimberg (drummer).

Canarian musician musically trained in the Musicians Institute in Los Angeles (USA). Once finished his studies, Mario moved to London where he lived for six years. During this period he developed his career further. Concerts at the Royal Festival Hall Foyer, Barbican Centre Foyer and Jazz café can be highlighted. During this time, he collaborated with Dave Cliff (Lee Konitz, Warren Vaché) and Stacey Kent (Candid recording artist). In the teaching field, Mario was head of the jazz department in the London Music School.
In 1999 Mario moved to Barcelona. He has collaborated with Horacio Fumero, Benet Palet, Chris Higgins, David Xirgu, Alfons Carrascosa, Aldo Caviglia, Roger Blavia y Nono Fernández, among others. Since September 2003, Mario is the head of the modern music department at Aula de So school in Sant Cugat.

Swedish saxophone player with musical studies in the Skurups School of Music and Malmö College of Music (University of Lund). Since becoming a professional, he has worked with Benny Bailey, Anders Bergkrantz. Outstanding collaborations were made with the Monday Night Big Band, performing in France, Sweden, Italy and USA (Village Vanguard and Carnegie Hall). In 1995, Fredrik started his quintet making two CDs for Dragon Records. The band has played in Sweden, Germany and Mexico.
He later became a member of the band Blue Pages which was awarded with the prize "Jazz in Sweden" in 1997.
Since summer 2001, Fred moved to Barcelona, where he has collaborated with musicians such as Horacio Fumero, Albert Bover, Chris Higgins, José Reinoso, among others.

tom warburton

Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma (USA), Tom studied music at the University School of Music in Bloomington (USA), under the tuition of David Baker. During this period, Tom played in various clubs in Chicago, Indianapolis and central US. Later, Tom collaborated with Chico Freeman, Bennie Wallace, Arthur Blythe, Antoine Roney, Mike Stern, Richie Coles, Joe Magnarelli, Charles Davis, Judy Neimac, Alvin Queen and Robert 'Reverand' Stewart.
Tom resides currently in Barcelona, where he has played with musicians such as Albert Bover, Raynald Colom, Marti Serra y Xavi Maureta.

Born in Galicia with a Magna Cum Laude Diploma in Performance (Drumset), Berklee College of Music (1996-99). He studied with musicians such as Hal Crook and drummers Bob Moses, Jamey Haddad and Kenwood Dennard.
Member of the Abe Rábade Trio (Tete Montoliu Award 2001). He is also member of the Abe Rábade Ghu! Project, band with which he has recorded in 2003 the album Abe Rábade Ghu! Project Vol. 1. In 2002 he recorded with his trio the albums Simetrías and Babel de Sons, Xingra. Awarded with the Second Prize in the International Getxo Jazz Festival. 2000.
Performances with international musicians such as Curtis Fuller, David Friesen and Jeff Harrington. Within the national field, he has collaborated with Jorge Pardo, Chris Kase, Reynald Colom and Llibert Fortuny, among others. He has participated in several festivals and clubs both in USA (New York City, Boston, Michigan, etc.) and Europe (Portugal - Lisboa, Amarante, Getxo, San Sebastián, Barcelona, Madrid, etc.).
